Eagle Mountain Ranch ImprovementsWithin the few years we’ve owned Eagle Mountain Ranch, one might ask, “What improvements have been made?” With lots of hard work and very little outside money coming in to help with improvements and repairs, we would like to show you some before and after shots. We decided to start with the entrance way. A new cattle guard was desperately needed. We were facing solid ledge and rented a backhoe with a ram to start digging. It took several days then we poured a concrete box to lay the special made cattle guard on. Then, we added the entrance way, made of 18 inches in diameter by 22 feet long pine logs, embedded in four feet of concrete.
The existing barn on the ranch was built in 1977. At that time, it was used as a cattle barn. Later it was used as a feeder lamb operation, then in the late 90’s, it was converted back to a cattle barn. We had our work cut out for us. We took out pens and gates, cleaned up the mess from being a barn, poured a concrete floor, and added a cinder block wall the entire length of the barn. We divided the shop into two parts -- one side to be used by Mountainman Art. This gave Mike a place to continue his airbrush artwork on motorcycles, since his home and shop were lost in a fire in 2006. We added cowboy and cowgirl handicapped bathrooms with showers, a tack room and a round pen to work with the horses. Since the bathrooms were installed, a septic system was also added. An additional spring had to be developed to keep watering the horses.
